I. REQUIREMENTS
A) Essential/Mandatory: Must Have
1) Education/Certificates: BS in Business or Engineering
2) Experience: 5-10 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
3) Experience leading continuous improvement activities with demonstrated results
4) Self-directed, capable of developing department strategies.
5) Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to use personal computers for email, spreadsheets, and word processing.
6) Demonstrated application of Lean and/or Six-Sigma methods.
7) Experience working with a functional ERP system and knowledge of ERP system for execution of shop floor control, inventory status and production scheduling activities.
II. RESPONSIBILITES
A) Major Tasks (in order of importance)
1) Responsible for attainment of established business objectives including Revenue, On Time Delivery, Quality, Cost, Safety, and Lead-times.
2) Responsible for all aspects of staffing including hiring, training, leadership development, and performance management
3) Determines staffing levels required to meet production schedules and works with Human Resources in the interviewing and hiring process
4) Lead support activities with Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Customer Support as required to support business objectives
5) Implements Lean manufacturing strategies to continuously reduce costs, inventory, and lead-times while improving product quality.
6) Assess department needs and develop short-term and long-term strategies for improvement.
7) Trains managers and operators in the use of continuous improvement tools (Lean and Six-Sigma)
III. LEADERSHIP
A) Managed By: Manufacturing Manager
B) Manages: Directly manages Supervisors and/or Hourly Group Leaders, Technicians, full-time and temporary operators on multiple shifts.
IV. EQUIPMENT
A) Manufacturing processes include light assembly, fabrication and automated machine equipment. Equipment responsibility is dependant upon area of responsibility which could encompass cable manufacturing (flex or semi-rigid), plating or light assembly equipment.
