Purchasing Manager

Our Client has been serving the defense, satellite, telecommunication, test and measurement markets for more than forty years.    They have been a leading provider of transmission line solutions for RF and Microwave Applications.

 

We are currently looking for a Purchasing Manager that will be accountable for all Purchasing Department results.   They will focus on achieving all Supplier Performance Objectives:   Quality, On Time Delivery, Lead-Times and Cost.

Location:          King of Prussia, Pa

Comp:               $100,000 Base

I.                     REQUIREMENTS

A)     Essential/Mandatory: Must Have

1)       Education: BS in Business or related field.       

2)       Certificate(s):  Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Professional in Supply Management

3)       Experience:  5-10 years experience managing the Purchasing function in a discrete manufacturing environment

4)       Experience managing Supply Chain performance and continuous improvement activities with demonstrated results

5)       Self-directed; capable of developing and executing department strategies while performing tactical Procurement activities

6)       Skills:  Strong verbal and written communication skills required.  Strong analytical skills and ability to use personal computers for email, spreadsheets, and word processing.

7)       Experience working with a functional ERP system and strong knowledge of ERP systems for the execution of Purchasing

B)      Preferred : Desired

1)       Experience in a Engineered-to-Order environment with ISO and/or AS9100 certification

2)       Experience in the areas of Production & Inventory Control

3)       Demonstrated application of Lean and/or Six-Sigma methods.

 

II.                   RESPONSIBILITES

A)     Major Tasks (in order of importance)

1)       Responsible for the procurement of all direct materials, indirect materials, and capital equipment. 

2)       Responsible for all aspects of staffing including hiring, training, leadership development, and performance management

3)       Responsible for performing regular Supplier audits, visits, and attaining established Supplier performance objectives for Quality, On Time Delivery, Lead-Times, and Cost.

4)       Prepares and reviews purchase orders and contracts to assure compliance with our Customer requirements, Engineering specifications, and legal term & conditions. 

5)       Responsible for sourcing new products, obtaining quotes, placing purchase orders, and resolving quality and delivery issues as needed to support the business

6)       Responsible for leading continuous improvement activities and utilizing performance metrics to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency, of our Procurement processes

7)       Responsible for interfacing with IT to troubleshooting ERP issues, implement new processes, and develop the tools and reports required to support Purchasing. 

8)       Responsible for the development and maintenance of Purchasing policies and procedures as required for compliance with ISO & AS9100 requirements. 

9)       Manages the sale and disposal of surplus equipment and inventory

10)   Responsible for developing and implementing Supply Chain strategies to minimize inventory and lead-times

 

III.                 LEADERSHIP

A)     Managed By:   Operations Manager

B)      Manages:  Directly manages Buyers and Administrative support personnel and responsible for the performance of all Suppliers. 

 

IV.                PHYSICAL DEMANDS

A)     Activity/ Movement level: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

B)      Weight lifted: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

C)      Travel Requirements:  10-20% of time domestically and internationally.
